Boys Soccer: The varsity finished in the final four in the state in class 1A, losing in 1-0 to No. 1 Canterbury in the semi-state championship. In the semi-state semifinal the Bruins defeated Argos 8-0. On the road to the semi-state the Bruins defeating no. 9 Andrean 1-0 and Boone Grove 5-0 in regional action and John Glenn 8-0 and Mishawaka Marian 3-1 in sectionals. The Bruins finished 18-4-1. Though Bethany was the smallest school among the teams we played, Bruin fans were overwhelmingly the top supporters with more than 500 Bethany fans—students, parents, and community members—attending the semi-state championship!

In the semi-state victory over Argos, senior Femi Hollinger-Janzen scored 4 goals to become the Bruins career leader with 67, surpasing former Bruin player and coach Myron Bontreger ('87). And senior Jeff Yoder recorded his tenth shutout of the season to set the Bruins single-season record, surpassing the 9 shutouts by Seth Kauffman ('10) in 2009. (See boys soccer career records.)

Both Hollinger-Janzen and Yoder were selected to the Indiana Soccer Coaches Association District 1 first-team with Hollinger-Janzen later being named to first team all-state and Indiana Player-of-the-Year, the first from Elkhart County! Yoder was named all-state honor mention. Coach Hank Willems was also selected as the district 1 private school coach of the year and coached the district 1 team at the College Showcase, Nov. 19-20. Coach Willems says, "Having players selected from both the offense and defense represents the many quality players we have on both sides of the ball. Defensive players are often overlooked, so to have a goalkeeper selected is an acknowledgement of not just Jeff, but our entire defensive unit." Additionally, four players were selected as academic all-state: seniors Jeff Yoder and Jared Nussbaum and juniors Andrew Snyder and Lucas Morgan.

The Bruins also won their fifth consecutive Northern Indiana Soccer Conference title. Femi Hollinger-Janzen was named conference player of the year. Joining him on the all-conference first team are senior Drew Sylvester and juniors Josh Stoltzfus and Andrew Snyder. Earning second team honors were senior goalkeeper Jeff Yoder, senior Jared Nussbaum, and junior Caleb Morris. Team awards included:Team MVP, Femi Hollinger-Janzen; Offensive MVP, Josh Stoltzfus; Defensive MVP, Drew Sylvester; Most Improved, Jesse Loewen; Sportsmanship Andrew Snyder. Earning JV awards were MVPs to Trent Yoder and Isaac Brenneman and Most Improved to Tylor Wilson.

Cross Country: The boys team placed 11th, finishing ahead of Jimtown. The girls did not field a complete team. No Bethany runners placed in the top 15. The team dedicated its season to those who inspire them. (see article). Team awards included: most valuable runners, Sadie Gustafson-Zook and Ben Hochstetler; sportsmanship, Jesse Bontreger and Catie Kauffman.

Volleyball: The volleyball team defeated Howe School in three games in the first round of the Fort Wayne Canterbury sectional and then lost in three games to eventual sectional champion Blackhawk Christian. Team awards included: Team MVP and Sportsmanship, Alena Yoder; Offensive MVP, Elise Romero; Defensive MVP, Marie Bontrager; JV Award, Tori Craw.

Boys Tennis: The varsity defeated NorthWood and Jimtown in sectional play before losing to Fairfield in the sectional championship. The team finished the season 11-8. Senior Blake Shetler earned academic all-state. Team awards included: MVP, Blake Shetler; Sportsmanship, Parth Patel; Most Improved, Hans Miller; JV MVP, Wade Troyer.

Girls Soccer: The team defeated Elkhart Christian in the first round of sectionals play and then lost a hard-fought game to LaVille 1-0 in the semifinals. The team finished the season 8-8-1. Emma Caskey finished her career fourth in scoring (134), goals (50), and assists (34), and Taylor Christophel's 23 goals is 9th best. Earning all-conference honors in the NISC were Emma Caskey and Malaina Weldy, first team; and Natalie Thorne and Anna Nafziger, second team. Earning ISCA all-state academic honors were seniors Emma Caskey, Gina Gautsche, Malaina Weldy and Paige Wheeler, and juniors Natalie Thorne and Maddie Gerig. Team awards included: Team MVP, Malaina Weldy, Defensive MVP; Natalie Thorne; Offensive MVP, Emma Caskey; Sportsmanship, Anna Nafziger; Most Improved, Samantha Kauffman.
