Grandparents Day

Sixth graders study relationships.

Each year Bethany's sixth graders host their grandparents or special guests for a morning as part of their langauge arts unit on relating with different age groups. They spend the morning working together on interactive classroom assignments and playing games and conclude by eating lunch together. Students are excited to show their grandparents their new school, meet their teachers, and experience a bit of what their day is like.

In one newlywed-style game, students and grandparents scored points if they identically answered questions about each other. At right, one student crosses her fingers, hoping that her grandfather Theron Schlabach gives the same answer she did.

Below, one sixth grader was fortunate to have all four grandparents visit for the day--one being longtime Bethany superintendent/principal Bill Hooley (at left).
