Hollinger-Janzen scores winning goal in the Dec. 10 High School All-America soccer game in Birminham, Ala., taking a cross from outside and putting his first hit on the ball into the far post.

Femi was one of six from the West team earning a top performer rating by ESPNHS with the comment, "He can come back and win the ball, and when he wins it, he’s not likely to lose it. He blows by people." Femi Hollinger-Janzen was named Indiana Player of the Year by the Indiana State Coaches Association and was one of 37 selected nationally to play in the All-America game.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – In a match loaded with nationally known college recruits, it was a pair of lesser-known players who carried the West to a 3-2 victory over the East in the High School All-America Soccer Game held on the University of Alabama-Birmingham campus Saturday evening.

Qudus Lawal, who guided Mather (Chicago, Ill.) to a Class 2A state title, scored twice and Indiana University-bound Femi Hollinger-Janzen of Bethany Christian (Goshen, Ind.) added the deciding goal with less than 10 minutes to play.

The West held a 2-0 midway through the second half before North Carolina commit Jonathan Campbell from Greensboro Day (Greensboro, N.C.) and Maryland commit Donovan Fraser from Half Hollow Hills West (Dix Hills, N.Y.) scored less than two minutes apart for the East to even the score.

Lawal is undecided on college. Hollinger-Janzen emerged this past summer at the Indiana University summer soccer camp, where he was offered a scholarship and accepted. He remains the only non-Development Academy player in IU’s current recruiting class.

The All-America Game featured 11 players who have committed to ACC and Big East programs, and even had one player each who have committed to North Carolina and UNC Charlotte, which will play Sunday for the NCAA Division I national title.
