GC Signs Bruin Defender


Aaron Stiffney ('11) has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and soccer careers at Goshen College.

Stiffney was a four-year starter at Bethany and played a significant role on defense in leading Bethany to a sectional championship this year. His presence on defense was key to a defense thta gave up fewer goals per game over the past four years than any period since 1995. Durinng the past four years the defense has earned shutouts in 40 percent of its matches--setting a school record of 10 shutouts this year. In his career, the Bruins have been conference champions all four seasons.

A two-year team captain, Stiffney was awarded First Team All NISC three times, was a recipient of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Senior Excellence Award in 2010, and participated in the 2010 All District II College Showcase.

Aaron will be the third Stiffney brother to play college soccer for the Goshen College, joining Josh on the 2011 roster and following in the footsteps of Kyle ('06).
