Athletic Teams Excel
20% of seniors to play collegiately
Bethany is a great place to compete athletically and the accomplishments this year for a small school playing a big school schedule are quite remarkable. The year was marked not only by success on the field/court but also by many opportunities to participate, (over 70% of students play at least one sport), the emergence of new student leaders, and the development of nurturing relationships among players and coaches.
Strong onfield performances included boys soccer (14-3-2 and NISC champs for the third consectuive year), girls soccer (11-7-3 and sectional champs), boys tennis (13-8), and girls volleyball (19-13), boys basketball (14-8) and girls tennis (15-3). Collectively all Bruin varsity athletic teams compiled an overall mark of 130 wins, 96 losses and 5 ties. In addition, great improvement was made among other squads. The boys baseball team won 9 of its last 14 games. Girls softball and basketball had remarkable improvement from the beginning to the end of the season, both losing in sectional championship games (girls basketball to the eventual state champions). See more on each sports season: fall, boys basketball, girls basketball, spring.
In addition, 11 or more seniors (with several others fielding offers) will continue their athletic careers in college. That is more than 20% of the senior class!
