Senior Lyz Kauffman was selected as a Woman of Promise at the YWCA of Elkhart County's Nov. 9 Salute to Women Recognition Luncheon. She will be considered for a one-time $1,000 college scholarship. Each year the YWCA of Elkhart County recognizes a female from each county school who has overcome adverse conditions. Lyz was nominated by Bethany's Students Life Cluster, in part for her journey of grieving the death of her father Jamie in December 2004.
