Mark, Set, Go!

Track restarts after 20 years

Bethany's first track team in 20 years opened its season on March 31 with a meet at Mishawaka Marian against the host school and Bremen. Competing without a full contingent--ten boys and ten girls--the team is operating as a club with a limited schedule (see Track). But the smaller numbers do not dampen the enthusiasm. Coach Benji Hurst says, "I am not sure I have ever coached a group of kids in track more excited about scoring 14 and 23 points in my 10+ years of coaching. They are a neat group."

Though the team scores were not close--the girls team scored 23 points to Marian's 41 and Bremen's 97 and the boys team scored 14 points to Marian's 45 and Bremen's 106--those who did compete did well.
