Quarter Quarter Mile

Grade 8 Wins Leap Day Competition. As part of a schoolwide effort to collect a quarter mile (1,320 feet) of quarters for Fun Fest (March 14), each class competed to see who could bring in the most quarters on Leap Day (Friday, Feb. 29).

The frosh won the high school competition with 23 feet (264 quarters). Collectively students and faculty collected 133 feet, raising over $380 on Leap Day.

The Bruin running club and girls tennis teams are also raising money for the quarter quarter mile project as they train. A donor has agreed to contribute $1 for each mile the students run until Fun Fest. As of Leap Day the running club has run 190 miles and the tennis team 100.

The grand total from these and other donations through Feb. 29 is over 300 feet of quarters. The project will continue through Fun Fest. A poster in the high school gym lobby shows the ongoing progress towards the goal. Come to the Fun Fest and see how the students and community are doing and join the effort.
