Camel visits Bethany on Apr. 1
Bethany Christian Schools has had many visitors checking the school out over the past month, but on April 1 students received a surprise visit from an unusual guest: Amy, a young camel. Family and Consumer Science teacher Christine Stutzman invited her brother, David Beiswanger, to bring in Amy as a special treat on the last school day before spring break. Beiswanger is a professional horse trainer who is training the camel for a client.
Amy snuggles up to teacher Jennifer Lucas-GermeyanAmy is one-year old and weighs 330 pounds. When full grown she will weigh between 1600-2000 pounds. In addition to sharing facts about camels, Beiswanger talked about how training a camel compares to training a horse. Amy also got a tour of the school, popping into classrooms and posing with students during their break. Anyone interested in arranging for a visit from Amy can contact Beiswanger at 260 351-2516.
